Wholehog III Bios Upgrade Instructions

Current Version is: (build 17) Nov 6, 2003

To determine the current BIOS version on your console, check the build number and date that are displayed at the top of the screens shortly after the console is powered up. Any console displaying an earlier build number and date than above should have the BIOS upgraded as soon as possible.

The full install of Wholehog 3 software contains an updated BIOS with the two following important changes:

The new BIOS provides support for performing V1.3 software upgrades from the BIOS without erasing existing shows from the hard disk. (Note that upgrading to a software version earlier than V1.3 will still erase shows on the hard disk.)

This new version of the BIOS is able to recognise the newer, faster 52x speed CD drives that are now shipped as standard with all new consoles. In the event of a CD drive failure, one of these newer drives will be dispatched as a replacement. If this new BIOS has not previously been installed, the console will be unable to recognise the faster drive, making reinstallation of the software and updating the BIOS impossible. It is recommended that all consoles have their BIOS upgraded as a precautionary measure against a CD drive failure.

To determine the current BIOS version, check the build number and date that are displayed at the top of the screens shortly after the console is powered up. The new BIOS displays '(Build 17) Nov 6 2003'. Any console displaying an earlier build number and date should have the BIOS upgraded as soon as possible.

New Features

Support for 52x speed CD drives

'Upgrade Software' option to upgrade the software from the BIOS menu without wiping the shows.
(This should only be used with V1.3 or later software - with V1.2 or earlier, any shows will still be erased.)

Esc, Ctrl or Enter on an external PS2 keyboard can all be held to allow access to the BIOS menu.

Pig, Open or Enter on the console's front panel can all be held to allow access to the BIOS menu.

Update Instructions

Please install the V1.3 software before installing the new BIOS.

Ensure that the console is connected to a reliable power supply.
If power is lost whilst the BIOS is being updated then the console will need to be returned to the manufacturer.

Hold down the PIG key and power up the console. After a couple of seconds a menu will appear on all of the touchscreens and external monitors.

Use the cursor keys to move the arrows down to 'Update BIOS', press Enter.

Ensure that a full install disc is in the CD drive, then select the YES option.

The console will reprogram the BIOS, then restart itself. The BIOS version is displayed across the top of the touchscreens shortly after the console is powered up; the current version is '(Build 17) Nov 6 2003'.
